The Greene County boys wrestling team took part in a two-day tournament in Independence last Friday and Saturday, with the team taking 18th place out of 32 teams.
Greene County was one of the few teams to have two individual champions. Seniors Kale Petersen and McKinley Robbins both finished first in their 32-man brackets: Petersen at 132 lbs and Robbins at 138. Petersen is ranked first at 126 lbs in Class 2A and Robbins is at the top of the 2A rankings at 138 lbs.
The tourney was the first competition of the season for coach Zach Beekman, who had just seven Rams in action.
Gavyn Winters took fifth at 106, Brent Dennhardt finished ninth at 145, and Jackson Turner finished in 15th place at 152. Crew Conner finished 23rd in the 120 class, with Dakota Mobley taking 24th at 132.

145 – Brent Dennhardt won by tech fall over Blake Willson 20-3; lost by decision to Keegan Ellsworth 8-6; won by fall over Jake Umstead 5:03; won by fall over Ryan Wilson 3:26; won by decision over Beck Arant 4-3; won by decision over Nolan Riddle 6-4, 9th place.
